<p>A study was conducted at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and not a small one at that&#8230; more than 50,000 people, aged between 20 and 89 years old were studied and followed over a period of 11 years. &nbsp;None of these subjects were known to have heart failure at the beginning of the experiment. &nbsp;From this study, scientists discovered that those subject who suffered with more than a couple of nights of poor sleep have increased chances of developing the condition, whereby the heart is unable to pump blood around the body properly. &nbsp;More research will take place to see if this link is more complicated, however the experiment is of great importance. &nbsp;The condition could be caused due to the heart muscles not being fit enough to do their job properly. &nbsp;They may be too weak or too stiff to pump blood at the right pressure, this causes people with the disorder to feel breathless and exhausted which can also make it difficult to get a full nights rest. &nbsp;However scientists wanted to determine whether this meant that people who do not sleep well were destined to develop the condition later.</p>
<p>Throughout the study itself, the applicants were asked if they felt fully rested after a night&#039;s sleep, and whether they had difficult getting to sleep or waking up early &#8211; those who did have issues were three times more likely to contract heart failure than those who slept well. &nbsp;You may ask about the subjects&#039; health history, this was all taken into account by scientists. &nbsp;Still these people were more at risk. &nbsp;</p>
